Relaxing day at the Beach-I think NOT

It's my day off and so my good friend Heather suggested that we get ourselves to the beach for the second Friday in a row. Of course it did not take a lot to convince me to go to the beach. So after a really disappointing lunch at Aldo's (normally I enjoy the food there, but today we both were not impressed) we made our way to Third Ave.

We knew something was up when we pulled up and saw two men decked out in suits standing at the edge of the cliff, one on a cell and one just standing there awkwardly. Heather quickly determined that they were lawyers and likely from out of town, as no one dresses like that in Santa Cruz especially at the beach.

Turns out that our relaxing day at the beach was going to come with a show, but not the type I usually tune in to. (Think - MTV "reality-TV") Shortly after laying out our towels two cops showed up and began conversing with the suits. Then all four of them came down the stairs onto the beach, as they passed by one of the suits flipped back revealing a badge.

The four confronted a group of scantily clad students who had gathered around a washed up piece of driftwood. It was clear they were on a mission to speak to one of the girls. After talking to her they began chatting it up with a guy and then put him in cuffs.

Now if this was me I would have been freaking out by now. Crying or thinking ohCRAP but not these kids they all just stood around acting like this is just a normal bit of life. Sadly after watching the remainder of the day play out this may very well be everyday life for them.

So anyway, as I was saying they cuffed Mr. Too Cool for School (which is where by the way all of these students should have been on a Friday afternoon)And they walked him and Little Miss Blue Shorts up to the road. Still everyone was pretty calm and all the friends just kinda stood around and then two by two they began to take off until the group dwindled down to about four or five. This is when Little Miss It's All About Me decided to show up...I have no idea where she was until that moment, but once she showed up there was no ignoring her even if you wanted to. She was all F*** this and F*** that and F*** and oh F*** seriously there were some other words in there but all we got the joy of hearing was F*** F*** F*** you get the idea. She was yelling about Little Miss Blue Shorts and into a cell and at the guys and you know I am pretty sure she was just not a happy camper.

Then finally she stalked off with some boy still swearing up a storm. As they made their way down the beach the Lifeguard rolled up in his truck and began going through the kids stuff...not sure the legality of that, but I guess he knows. Anyway he found some alcohol and poured it out on the beach. The seagulls sniffed it out (well if they have noses that is what they did) but sadly did not lap it up. (come to think of it do they have tongues?) Anyway I cannot tell you I saw drunk seagulls, though that would have added to the excitement.

Pretty much as soon as the Lifeguard took off some of the students were back. Including Mr. Too Cool For School, which I don't get at all. Especially since sometime during all of the swearing and such we were able to determine that he was a 17 year old kid who had just earned himself a misdemeanor by hitting Little Miss Blue Shorts. Possibly some other stuff as well. I am not a cop (shocker I know) but I am thinking that if you arrest a minor you should notify the parents and maybe hold them until the parents come and pick them up, you should perhaps not release them and the girl to the same beach to ride home with a bunch of other minors who had been drinking and were now all at war with Miss Blue Shorts. Just a thought.

We were there for about 3 hours and this was still playing out as we left. And people wonder why I am in NO rush to have kids, not that I think I am going to screw them up, but there are just so many out there who are screwed up that there is no need to add to the mix at this point.

There was more too this but I think you had to be there to fully appreciate the Drama.

Can't Remember

I honestly do not recall the last time I posted on here. Guess that just goes to show you how busy life has been. You would think that my course on Intentional Living would have helped me have more time, but I think it just helped me prioritize, and let's face it this blog could not be at the top of my list or hopefully yours.

Let's catch up a bit though. There are many many changes taking place in my life, exciting big changes. The biggest is what is causing the rest I suppose. I am like I told you I am sure, moving to Rome, Italy. Not to be confused with any of these:

While, I am sure all of those places have something to offer they are not where I am headed. Before I move to Rome I am moving to Boulder Creek, Redwood Christian Park to be exact. Not a big move as far as distance is concerned, but it does involve some big changes. I have sold just about everything I own, minus clothes, journals, books, movies and my bed. I am moving from my apartment on my own to a room in a home with a family of 5. A mom, dad and 3 little boys.





You know by now that I totaled my car, but what you might not know is that this same amazing family is loaning me their Jeep to use until I move to Italy! I am loving this change from Stick to Automatic. From owing money on my car to being paid off in full! Not to mention I get to use a super cute blue Jeep, a vehicle I have always wanted.

Let me see what were those other changes...I don't recall, but at least we are a little more caught up.

Oh wait I also wanted to let you know that my sister Krista started an online store on Etsy that sells our pictures from our travels. It is her way to help support me in my ministry in Rome. Half of the proceeds go towards my ministry. The store is called, check it out when you have a moment. She has some great Africa pictures on there as well as some of my pics from Rome, with more being added.
